No more fingerprints!!!!!

One thing about this wonderful iPad that has bothered me.... my screen is constantly covered in fingerprints.

Today I was just browsing in Radio Shack and happened to ask the clerk about screen protectors for the iPad. He immediately reccommended this one:

The primary function is the protect the screen from scratches but it also tremendously cuts down on smudges and fingerprints. After only a couple of hours, I highly recommend!!

iPad Software Update

Apple recently released an update for the iPad (and iPhone/iTouch) software and there are some great new features!

My favorite is the ability to create folders - this has helped me organize my iPad and that makes me happy! The other is the ability to multitask. Double clicking on the "home" button now opens a bar at the bottom of the screen that shows all open apps and you can easily move between them without closing them each time.

If you have not updated your iPad, do so by plugging it in your computer and opening iTunes. You will be automatically prompted to download and install the update. You may be required to update iTunes during this process as well.

App Suggestions

The good folks at TASC (Technology Assistance for Special Consumers) have come up with a great list of apps and they are broken down into categories.

I am attaching this list below. If you try one you like, leave a comment and let us know!

 TASC Educational App List

Apps!

Here is a list of the apps I have download, costs (if any) and my initial thoughts. This list will grow and change!

  1. Citrix (Free)  - This app allows access to our work desktop and all files! It doesn't seem to function well over the 3G but does work well on Wifi. The original setup I did needs to be adjusted so let me know if you are interested in using this!

  2. Evernote (Free) - love this app for keeping up with all my notes and clippings. Check out their website - www.evernote.com

  3. Pages  ($9.99) - this is Apple's version of Microsoft Word. Allows you to open and edit (not just view) documents from your email. May not be needed if you prefer using Citrix.

  4. GeeTasks ($2.99) - I am a big user of Google calendar and often use the task function as well. This app synces my tasks to and from my iPad.

  5. To Do's List (Free) - I may just use Geetask instead, just tried this one out.

  6. SmugMug (free) - if you subscribe to Smugmug to store your photos this app gives you great access to them.

  7. AccuWeather (free) - pretty much what it says - simple and straighforward weather app. The weather channel has one as well.

  8. Kindle (Free) - I just purchased a textbook for my next class to read on my iPad. It was ten bucks cheaper than the book!
